Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr (RNV)
The ForCity Smart Tram for Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH is a low-floor, bi-directional tram with a pivoting bogie and a 1000 mm gauge.
Škoda Transportation will produce these trams in three lengths with the same technical design - three-section, four-section and six-section. This will include 31 thirty-meter trams (30,5 m), 37 forty-meter trams (40,65 m) and 12 sixty-meter trams (58,25 m).
The trams will be equipped with state-of-the-art information systems, cameras and many other innovations. The maximum operating speed of the trams will be 80 km/h. Vehicles will also provide barrier-free access for wheelchair users and prams.
The trams will be operated in the cities Mannheim, Heidelberg and Ludwigshafen and in three different federal states of Germany, namely Baden-Württemberg, Hessen and Rhineland-Palatinate. The first vehicles will be deployed in 2022.
